She'd given him her word prior that she wouldn't harm the animals here; so she intended to hold to that. In general, Yennefer didn't harm animals unless they were actively trying to you know, tear her apart. Even then, her spells were defensive and meant to stun rather than cause permanently harm. After her interaction with the dragon all those centuries ago, her outlook had changed quite dramatically. With humans however, she was not always so considerate when they attempted to do her harm.
