Name: Robert Muldoon
Age: 42 (at the events of Jurassic Park)
Height: 6'1"
Occupation: Park Warden | Animal Supervisor
Languages: English, Swahili, French, Spanish and Portuguese (both broken)
Background:
Although born in England, Muldoon was raised primarily in Kenya. He spent the first part of his life around African Big Game hunters, later working for them as a guide. Since 1980 his work was almost solely for conservation groups and zoo designers as a wildlife consultant. This included John Hammond's Animal Kingdom. During his time there he gained Hammond's trust and thoroughly proved himself, making him a natural choice for Park Warden of Jurassic Park.
Personality:
Muldoon is diligent, keenly observing his charges and environment. He takes his work seriously, and though he voices concerns about any potential or very real dangers, he still does his best to protect the people around him, even if they choose to ignore his suggestions. This is not limited to his bosses, guests or those directly under him as he raises concerns for everyone on the island.
Ultimately he puts the safety of people at the core of his priorities, despite his care for the animals under his charge. The death of Jophery Brown despite the Warden's best attempts to save him hits Muldoon hard. Despite this, Muldoon still respects the raptors' abilities and intelligence, ultimately still underestimating his opponent at the end of the movie.
Muldoon's attentiveness to the weather, his helping with the health and care of the dinosaurs, his respect for even the dinosaurs he hates, as well as his background all point to a respect for nature, the environment and conservation. Although he believes the raptors shouldn't have been created, he still cares for their needs and respects them. He also understands some animals are not suited to parks, including some of the dinosaurs, which again shows his interest in what is best for them.
Hidden under his professional focus, there is a thrill seeker streak in him. He enjoys brushing up against danger (see that little grin after escaping the rex), though he prefers when it doesn't put anyone else at risk. He clearly fears the raptors, but his allowing Ellie to escape while he covered her (rather than accompanying her) shows how deeply he is drawn to the excitement of the hunt when he can get everyone else to safety.
Socially, he's naturally reserved, letting other people take the focus in informal settings. While he's confident and unfazed by attention, he prefers to avoid it in his downtime. His humour is dry and cheeky, but is generally kept for friends. He would happily stay quiet and just enjoy the atmosphere of a get together... Unless you get him onto a topic he's interested in.
Appearance: Athletic, fit as his profession is physically demanding. A little on the tall side, middle aged, with light brown hair. A long face with a hawk nose, thin lips and sharp eyes. He prefers practical, professional clothing that's suitable for wearing for long periods of activity while he goes about his work. Even while not on duty he leans towards simple, functional attire that is on the slightly formal side.
Post-Jurassic Park Incident: After surviving the raptor attack Muldoon has been left with some rather nasty scarring that can be seen primarily on his upper body including claw marks on the left side of his face.
Voice: A strong, commanding voice, though he rarely shouts and doesn't need to raise his voice much to get attention. He has an English accent and tends to speak low and quiet, but confidently.
Preferred Weapons:
Canon Deviations:
This is Muldoon from the movie, but I am taking information from the novel to fill in some gaps. Namely to build on his background and history with Hammond.
Obviously I'm not playing him as having died at the end of the movie. Although he didn't end up tranquilising the Tyrannosaurus as in the novel, he did survive the raptor attack (any post-movie RP will involve scars gained from the attack), killing at least one raptor and being rescued by another helicopter that accompanied the first.
